Manage Security Settings
The Password Management feature allows organizations to specify the desired password strength for passwords and whether users should be prompted to change their password after a specified number of days.
Modifications to password parameters take effect as follows:
-
When a setting to prompt for password change is modified, Maintenance Connection resets all user password change/expiration dates so that all passwords expire in the number of days specified.
For example, if the parameter was changed to 30 days on June 1st, all users would be prompted to change their password the first time they logged in after July 1st.
-
Changes to password strength requirements only affect future password definition / changes. Members with password strength less than the currently defined setting will not be required to meet the more stringent requirement until the next time the password is changed.
Case-sensitivity is fully enforced on all member passwords.
Modify Password Security Settings:
-
Select Tools > Members > Password Management from the Main Menu.
The Password Management window opens.
-
Click the Security Settings tab.
The currently defined security settings display.
-
Select the password strength you require from members during initial sign-up and whenever a password is changed from the Password Strength field.
There are three available choices:
-
Weak: Requires six or more characters.
-
Medium: Requires eight or more characters and numbers.
-
Strong: Requires eight or more characters, numbers, and symbols.
-
-
Select how long users will have before they need to change their passwords from the Expire Passwords fields.
There are two independent Expire Password settings. The first one is for access to the MRO/TWC/MC Express and the Reporter Applications. The second setting is for the Service Requester.
These independent settings allow your organization to have less strict password expiration requirements for members that only access the Service Requester.
If you do not want members to be prompted to change their password, use the Never option.

Click Save.

Click Close.
The window closes.
